Travis Scott Discography: Every Album and Where to Start

Travis Scott performing at the 2017 MTV EMAs

Travis Scott has released four studio albums in about a decade, and each one works like a different room in the same building: the same low end, the same voices chopped into textures, a different colour on the walls. Before those four there were two mixtapes that producers still quote, and after them a run of singles that changed what a rap record is allowed to do in the middle of its own runtime.

This is the catalogue in order, the songs that carry it and what to listen for in each era, from the Houston basement tapes to the stadium tour.

The albums, in order

Owl Pharaoh (2013) and Days Before Rodeo (2014)

Owl Pharaoh arrived in 2013 as a free mixtape with a muddy, psychedelic finish that nobody in mainstream rap was using at the time. It is the record where the ad libs start working like instruments: not decoration on top of the bar, but a second voice answering it.

Days Before Rodeo came out on SoundCloud on August 18, 2014, and it is the one that still sounds like the blueprint. Trap drums, southern samples stretched until they warp, guests like Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan, and a mood that is closer to a haunted house than a club. Ten years later the re-release debuted at number two and reached number one on the Billboard 200 in its fourth week, which tells you how much of a cult record it became.

Rodeo (2015)

The debut album landed on September 4, 2015, opening at number three on the Billboard 200. The guests read like a summit of that moment, from Kanye West and the Weeknd to Future and 2 Chainz, and the production team includes Mike Dean, Metro Boomin and WondaGurl.

The sound is druggy and deliberately uneven. Songs stop halfway and start again with a different tempo, hooks appear once and never return. "Antidote" is the one that escaped, reaching number 16 on the Hot 100 and going seven times platinum in the US.

Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016)

Released on September 2, 2016, this was his first number one album, with 88,000 album equivalent units in its opening week. It is also the tightest record in the catalogue: fewer beat switches, shorter songs and a melodic idea in every one.

"Goosebumps" with Kendrick Lamar is the anchor, peaking at number 32 on the Hot 100 and living on in playlists years after release. The album was certified four times platinum in 2025, and it is the easiest entry point if you want the sound without the concept.

Astroworld (2018)

The third album, out on August 3, 2018, debuted at number one with 537,000 album equivalent units, including 270,000 pure sales. It is six times platinum and it is the record most people mean when they say they like Travis Scott.

Astroworld works as a theme park in the literal sense: the songs are rides, the transitions are corridors, the features are guests walking past. Frank Ocean, Drake, Kid Cudi, James Blake and Juice WRLD all pass through, but the identity stays his. "SICKO MODE" became his first number one on the Hot 100 and the first hip hop song in history to spend at least 30 weeks inside the chart's top ten.

Utopia (2023)

Utopia arrived on July 28, 2023 and went straight to number one with 496,000 units, 252,000 of them pure sales. That made it his fourth chart topping album and his first number one in the UK.

The palette is harsher and more electronic than Astroworld. Distorted synths, uneven drum programming, features from Beyoncé, Drake, Playboi Carti and the Weeknd, and a film, Circus Maximus, built around the same sessions. It is the least immediate of the four and the one that rewards headphones.

The songs that carry the catalogue

Five tracks explain most of the run. They are also the ones people search for by name, so here they are in one place before the deep cuts.

SICKO MODE (2018)

Three beats in five minutes, a Drake verse that arrives late and a switch that made every producer in 2018 try the same trick. If you only stream one song from the catalogue, it is this one.

goosebumps (2016)

The one that proved he could write a melody. Kendrick Lamar's verse is short and perfect, and the beat is little more than a bass line, a few keys and space.

HIGHEST IN THE ROOM (2019)

A single released in October 2019 that debuted at number one, his second chart topper in the US. It sounds unfinished on purpose: one loop, one idea, a lot of air around the voice.

FE!N (2023)

The Utopia track with Playboi Carti that turned into the loudest moment of the tour. Repeated, almost hypnotic, built to be shouted by a stadium rather than listened to alone.

Antidote (2015)

The first song that made the Rodeo era make sense to a wider audience. Sparse, woozy, with a hook that sits behind the beat instead of on top of it.

What the records actually sound like

Strip away the features and the marketing and there is a consistent production idea. The voice is treated as another instrument: ad libs are stacked, pitched and pushed back into the room until they read as texture. Mike Dean's mixing does the rest, keeping the low end loud without letting it swallow the vocal.

Structurally, the songs refuse the standard verse, chorus, verse. A track will spend a minute building a mood, drop into a second beat that shares nothing with the first, and end before the listener expects it. That is why so many type beats built on this sound feel incomplete: they copy the drum pattern and miss the arrangement.

Travis Scott type beats to start from

If you want that sound in your own hands, three beats from the catalogue cover the three sides of it. They are built the same way: melody first, drums second, space for a voice that is going to be treated.

Dream Catcher is the Astroworld side: piano and flute carry a dreamy top line while the drums stay heavy underneath. It sits between a scary trap beat and a melodic one, which is exactly the tension the album runs on. Listen to Dream Catcher.

Illuminati is the nocturnal, melodic side: a pitched vocal hook, a bell that keeps circling back to the same phrase and 808s that sit low and long. This is the Birds in the Trap mood with faster drums.

Invoke is the Utopia side: stacked chants, sliding 808s and brass stabs, built for verses that need to land heavy. Hear Invoke or browse the rest of the dark instrumentals and the full catalogue.

Questions people ask

How many studio albums does Travis Scott have?

Four: Rodeo (2015), Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016), Astroworld (2018) and Utopia (2023). Before them he released two mixtapes, Owl Pharaoh (2013) and Days Before Rodeo (2014).

Which Travis Scott album should I start with?

Astroworld. It has the singles, the cleanest production and the clearest idea of what he sounds like. From there, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight is the shorter, more melodic record, and Rodeo is the rawest.

What is Travis Scott's biggest song?

By chart position, "SICKO MODE" is the one that made the step to arenas: his first number one on the Hot 100 and a record that stayed in the top ten for more than 30 weeks. By longevity in playlists, "goosebumps" is the track that never really left.

Where can I find Travis Scott type beats?

In the instrumentals catalogue, filtered by trap or dark. Every beat can be streamed in full before you buy a licence.
