About this Boom Bap Type Beat

Boombap refers to a "boom" drum kick followed by the crisp "bap" of the snare, usually at a moderate tempo and so mixed that it is almost impossible to hear without bobbing your head. In the early days you could say that all hip-hop was "boombap," although the term didn't come into use soon. The sound it describes is at the heart of hip-hop, from early breakbeats to different samples to the golden age of New York rap with the likes of Premier and Pete Rock, famous for their classic boom bap.
