Emotional Beats
They’re not love beats, but they makes you feel an often used emotion. If we have to talk about emotional beats then we have to talk about Drake, Ty Dolla $ign, and a bunch more. They don’t always write love songs, but they makes you feel something that’s not always money, chicks and pills. You know what I mean?
An emotional beat is built to be pushed past its own ceiling. The emotional type beat instrumental tracks leave the last line of a section empty, so the drums can drop and the voice can finish alone, while the emotional rap beat instrumental versions hold a melody that rises whether the singer follows it or not. That is the difference between writing about a feeling and performing one: over an emotional trap beat instrumental the performance has to give something up.
Emotional rap beats for Post Malone, Juice WRLD and Ty Dolla $ign
When the voice is the subject, the beat has to know when to shut up. A Post Malone type beat and a Juice WRLD type beat work best where one melodic idea repeats until the singer is the only thing moving, and Ty Dolla $ign type beats favour versions with a hummed chorus half sketched already. An emotional rap beat with a hook is the shortcut if the chorus comes first, and the emotional rap beat love pain material is for tracks that hold one chord from the first beat to the last.
