Lo-Fi Beats
A very particular downtempo millennial hip hop based style flows warmly through your computer speakers, a drum machine transmits distorted beats, a couple of lazy synths appear in the middle of the night.
Built to survive repetition, a lo-fi type beat ends up under a study session or a whole video edit rather than in a chorus. Expect a lofi hip hop beat with a dusty drum machine, a sampled piano, tape hiss left in on purpose and a melody that returns every few bars without asking for attention. The sad end of this range, the lo fi type beat sad records, keeps the chords minor and the drums slow, and the lofi instrumental side drops the vocal sample for lofi instrumental beats meant to run for hours.
Lo-fi type beats for J Dilla, Nujabes and Joji writers
The references are specific. A J Dilla type beat is the swing that makes these drums land behind the grid, a Nujabes type beat is the warm, sample heavy side that turned the style into study music for a generation, and a Joji type beat pushes that palette somewhere more melodic. For anyone searching lofi hip hop beats to relax or study to, or a lo fi hip hop beat for streaming, the loops here are long enough to run through a whole evening.
