Slow Beats
The times in which we live are full of haste, haste and a sense of time in which the relaxed, the calm and the slow seem to have no place. Music and beats can help us to recover that sense of time that allows us to do things with tranquility and calm and also to recover vital times more appropriate to people in which reflection and enjoyment have a place. There are great musical beats that were made with this idea in mind.
A slow beat asks more of a voice than a fast one, because nothing in the arrangement hides a rushed line. The slow type beat instrumental tracks stretch a single chord across a whole section, the slow jam beats let a phrase run past the bar line, and the slow rap type beat and slow rnb type beat entries space the drums far enough apart that every syllable lands where the singer puts it. With slow beats to sing to, the breath before a line becomes part of the take.
Slow trap beats for writers who sing their verses
Hand an SZA type beat or a Summer Walker type beat to a singer and the writing changes: longer sentences, fewer words, more silence between them. Snoh Aalegra type beats push the same idea further out, and a slow emotional type beat is where the restraint finally breaks, usually in the second verse. One practical note, and it is the only place on this page I will make it: the free download comes as the tagged MP3, good for writing and trying ideas, while anything headed for a release needs a lease or the exclusive rights from the store.
